Choose the right control
A useful image quality reducer separates these controls because each removes different information. Use the table before trying to solve every upload limit with the quality slider alone.

Target-size truth
Usually, but the result depends on the source. Enter 100 in Target size after choosing JPG or WebP. The image quality reducer searches lower encoding qualities at the current resolution and reports the actual result. A simple photo may fit easily; a detailed 48-megapixel photo may not.
If the result remains over the limit, lower Resolution Scale and check again. The current tool does not silently keep shrinking dimensions behind your back, and PNG has no equivalent lossy quality search. This makes the tradeoff visible instead of claiming a false exact match.

Best for photos, broad compatibility, and obvious quality reduction. JPG removes transparency and can show blocks, ringing, and color smearing at low settings.
Best for transparency, logos, diagrams, and crisp flat graphics. PNG is lossless, so reduce resolution or switch format when a photographic PNG stays large.
Best for modern web delivery and transparent images that still need lossy compression. WebP often stays cleaner than JPG at a similar byte size.
Know the limits
“Without losing quality” is not an honest universal promise. Re-encoding can remove metadata and sometimes use a more efficient format with little visible change, but substantial reduction normally discards encoded detail, pixels, or both. The preview is evidence; a marketing percentage is not.
Browser encoders also vary slightly, and very large images can strain memory on older phones. Keep your original, inspect fine text and faces at 100%, and never use low quality as a substitute for secure redaction.
